JP Sauer Double Shotgun. SOLD

This is a very good condition war trophy that my neighbor's husband brought back from WW2. 1926 JP Sauer double barrel according to the guys at Shotgunworld. The sidelock action is very tight. Good bluing with light rust specks. No cracks in the wood. All numbers match. I will get some detailed pics in a day or two (my aunt is in the hospital and has an inoperable heart condition so I am there with her quite a bit). Last year I sold a couple of her husband's guns on here, and now need to sell this one. I think it is the last of them. $550 plus $35 insured shipping from individual to FFL/C&R licensed dealer. Information I received from Shotgunworld: It is a J.P. Sauer & Sohn in Suhl modell Habicht(Hawk) & it passed thru the Suhl proof facility in March of 1926. It was a Kerner - Anson platform.

Just so there is no misunderstanding on it- here are pics. It must be a 16 gauge. 12 is too large. Please look at the pics and ask questions on anything I may have omitted or stated wrong. This is not my gun, and I know nothing about it other than what Mrs. Edwards said, and what info I got from the Shotgunworld gurus. I cannot do a partial refund out of my pocket if it isn't exactly correct. I have no idea what all is/isn't a correct screw or part. I am simply helping out a 91 year-old lady and all the money goes to her.

I can't see anything there that can't be fixed with a little Kroil, some bronze wool (NOT steel wool) and a lot of "elbow grease" applied gently. A great buy for somebody that likes 16s.

Usually German shotguns of that period will have the chamber length marked someplace on the barrel flat. It would be either a "65" for a standard 2 1/2" or 65mm German 16 guage shells of the period, or a "70" for an "export" gun chambered for the standard US 2 3/4" 70mm shells. But I don't see the marking, which means to me that it has a German chamber--they were very careful to mark the "export" guns for the "export" shells. A gunsmith with a chamber guage could clear this up. Until one does, I'd only shoot 2 1/2" shells in it.

A good site to ask double shotgun-specific questions is http://www.doublegunshop.com/BBS. They know all about guns like this, and have some German and specifically Sauer specialists among their members. You need to register (free) for the site. Guys there are generally as decent as Ruger Forum members, and that is saying a lot.

Received the gun yesterday. Everything he said it was and more. Not going to take much to clean it up and make it look like WOW again. Mike is a great guy to deal with, smooth transaction.
