When I lived up in Barrow Alaska, (farthest north place in the US) a lady named Fran Tate, had a Mexican Restaurant, called PePe's brought up a Zydeco group up. There was a cover charge, and I had dinner and listened to the music all night. Had a wonderful time. Fran was quite a lady pushing 70 when I was there. Guess her restaurant burned down in 2013, about the time I left Alaska.

A lot of rock & rollers stole a LOT of Hooker's licks, styles, etc. JL Hooker is fundamental blues with a touch of everything thrown in! Love it. ZZ Top wouldn't be ZZ Top without John Lee's influence!

Some good years ago, around 1991 I guess it was... Doug Kershaw was in residence at Four Queens in Lost Wages. I went to his show so many times he started talking to me! He's a character.

The Stones and Led Zepplin took a lot of Robert Johnson's work, used it without authorization IIRC- also Creme, Eric Clapton etc et al.

My favorite blues movie is black snake moan Sam Jackson does a great version of staggerlee.
