Just wondering if a scope protector is a must on the Deerfeild model ?
I know they came from the factory with them but is it a must have when using it or was it more for looks ?.With the open top action I didn't know if gases or the empties flying out could hurt the scope body enough to warrant using the protector ?.I found a couple here in Canada and ordered 2.
Thanks

Brass dings are the major reason for the protector... I didn't like the factory.wrap-around version and opted for some sel-adhesive neoprene (sold for compound bow grips) on the underside of mine.

I have had a scope and red dot on my Deerfield and the adjustment cover on the right side gets whacked once in a while but other than that it isn't bad. I don't bother with a cover. :D
