Up for sale is a beautiful Smith & Wesson Model 48, .22 Magnum revolver with a 4" barrel. I'm not sure that it has ever been fired due to the lack of wear to the ejector rod. Based on its serial number, it was manufactured in 1973 and was shipped in March 1974. The serial number, placement of the gas ring, and rear sight mounting screws are consistent with the -3 engineering charge but the model designation on the frame is 48 with no dash.
The Model 48 revolvers with a 6" or an 8 3/8" barrel are fairly common but the 4" versions are quite scarce. I would rate its overall condition at 99.9%. The only flaw that I can see is a minuscule mark just below and forward of the barrel pin on the right side of the frame that can be seen in the 5th picture. The bore and cylinder chambers are pristine, it times properly, and locks up tight. The goncalo alves target grips are also in pristine condition. There's no end shake or push off. Sadly, I do not have the box, paperwork, or cleaning kit.
Priced reasonably at $1,400.00 + $50.00 shipping FFL to FFL. Payment by a US postal money order, please. If you have a C&R license, my dealer will ship it to you.
