In the spring of 1960 I wanted some work done on an old Clt New Service. Near me was a "junque boutique" (a junk shop with guns) called the Collector's Den. I took the gun there and noticed a lot of artwork, especially or Robert E. Lee. In tikme the shop moved to another location and was now called Harwood Arms. Mr. Oscar Harwood ran the shop along with his wife. Many years passed and finally Harwood Arms was no more. Only then did I lear of this:

Mr. Oscar Harwood was a graphic artist, and it was he who designed the first logos and signs for the newly formed Holiday Inns.

I didn’t know Holiday Inn started in Memphis until my son attended U of M several years ago. I think they still do all their corporate training on campus there.

In 1973 Wife and I flew in my Starduster to attend an aerobatic contest/fly-in at a close by airport and stayed at the Training H I. I remember it being very nice. One night the dinner was held on a paddle wheeler on the Mighty Mississippi. A good time was had by all.
