If You Had a Time-Travel Machine

Two conditions: one-way ticket, no coming back, AND you could bring as many family/friends as you wanted (but no stuff - just people and pets). What year/era would you select, or would you rip up the ticket?

I'm pretty happy where / when I am now! I wouldn't want to risk ending up somewhere worse..... If you go back in time, think of all the diseases, etc. that are now easily curable but were then deadly. Life expectancy has been generally on the increase. Going forward in time, I'm not so sure I want to see what's coming....

It would be just myself, to go back to graduating HS and do it all again with all my family and friends (making closer and new ones during the second trip)

If I could go back to age 16, with all else being as it was except that I know what happened between then and now, I'd take the ticket. Some simple things, which I was unaware of the first time around, could have prolonged the time I had with my Mom and Dad.
Other than that, I'd tear it up.
I've seen the "Back to the Future" movies. :lol:

I would go right back and do it all again. I was born in early 1941 by the best of parents. This time I would try to avoid things that hurt me. Odd`s are had I stepped around certain events and people probably worse things would have happened to fill the gap. I would avoid gout, kidney stones, a number of certain bad women, accidents, getting shot at, skin cancer, study for a more interesting and better paying career. When we think of it, had I not met my ex wife my daughter and granddaughters wouldn't have been born nor would I have met my present wife. Many of us might say they would have killed Hitler and Ben Laden. How come God didn't?
While we cant understand why---- yet, certain things were meant to be or come about.

that said, I would want to go back to my birth and try it all again, but with the knowledge I have today.

I've always thought about going back in time with modern technology/weaponry etc. and really getting some eyes to pop, perhaps even altering history.

Imagine a semi auto with a few 17 round magazines at the OK Corral? How about an M4 with a stack of 30 round mags at the Little Big Horn? Think about how you could have used a Spooky gunship at Gettysburg.

Did you see the Twilight Zone episode where the Army weekend warriors somehow went back to Custer's Last Stand and left the tank behind as they rushed toward the battle? :shock:

I would go back to December 1, 2014 and tell my Dad how much I love him and how much I appreciate his guidance through my life. He died December 2, 2014 and I never said those things to him. That would suit me just fine and I would feel much better than I do today.

Most people say they would love to go back in time for monetary purposes but I would like to go back and get a better education, with the hind sight knowing what I know now. But then again, I might go further back to before WWII and become a P-51 ace.... Hey it is my wishing well :lol:

I would go back to the 1970's that was my favorite decade, spend more time with my dad and brothers that were still alive and well, make some changes to the bad choice's I made back then like my first x wife and never go out with her, buy more Winchesters and Colts while they were lots less money, and buy that 1977 Corvette with the 454 engine and manual trans I test drove and was thinking about buying but didn't.

Of course the way I drove back then had I bought that car I may not be here today. :lol:

Since I'm a pilot guy. I would like to go back to WWII and be able to fly fighter escort in a 51 or 38 while my Dad was in the B-17 over Germany..
Other than that I would just tear up the ticket. Been pretty happy the way things turned out and the time period of my life.

Of course. But since you brought up Reality, what is reality?

One answer is: In the absence of Reality, Probability rules. Which leaves open the question of an infinity of Realities, since there is an infinity of Probabilities.

In Probability theory we use a scale of 0 to 1 where 0 = Impossibility, and Probability = 1 = an Event, and therefore a Reality. Any Probability (of some anticipated Event) between 0 and 1 is not a Reality since it has not occurred (as far as we know).

An alternative view is that Probability says more about the state of our knowledge (or ignorance) than it does about Reality.

One thing I neglected to mention is that all Probabilities are conditional. Change the conditions under which a probability of some defined anticipated Event is calculated, and you change the probability that the anticipated Event will occur. Unfortunately, we rarely know all of the conditions that may influence the occurrence of that Event.

I would grab my niece and nephew and go back to when my father was alive, he died when I was 22 long before they were born, so that they could all three meet and he and I could visit once again, but for that I would want a return ticket so they could come back to they could come back to the life they have grown up into.
