On the 10 o'clock news last night was the news that there had been a tragic accident, a fatal accident involving a motorcycle. Somehow a car and a motorcycle had collided, with the motorcycle rider being thrown through the air, and being pronounced dead at the scene.

The TV reporter interviewed a bystander who had witnessed the accident and had gone to the aid of the motorcyclist. The man was older, maybe late fifties or early sixties.

"He was somebody's son," he choked out. "Somebody's grandson. He said 'Tell my mother I love her.'" At this he broke down and wept, unable to continue. And very courteously the cameraman turned away from him.

Last night I thanked god that there are still men who will weep at the death of a stranger.

And I thank you for sharing that... Very very touching, and a good lesson in a tragic event. It's a little closer to home for me, being a biker & such...

Best regards, Pete

Thank you Bob, as someone said "it ain't all bad, just what you see on the news' I too ride every week "The man was older, maybe late fifties or early sixties" and I am late sixties---how did that happen??? so I try to stay ready to meet the Grand Old Architect of the Universe and it would be nice if someone had the decency to weep---or at least look away if someone else did

I still ride too. That kind of thing is always possible, but the risk is worth the prize which is the feeling of riding a good bike. I mourn to hear of a fellow rider but at least he was killed doing something he loved. If you don't ride it's hard to understand but if you do, you know already.
There are good people everywhere by far they are the majority. We often forget that with the media drumming stories of the bad ones.

Thanks Bob, for relating the story to us. There are still good people in this world!
