Currently wife is ill, business is crickets and AC and applinces all need work or replacement. Or I am broke, But my plan is this next rip to the range>
East vs West Shoot out
for the west:
10/22 2 lb Trigger, pinned bolt and Green Mountain sporter barrel

For the east
Romanian Trainer M 69

Izhmash Baby Biathlon in .22 WMR.

I want to use CCI mini-Mag
Aquila Super extra

Anyway my dream. But the best laid plans ......

Good luck. I've got two 10/22's. One of them has a Green Mountain barrel. It's really nice.

How is the Romainian Trainer M69? I haven't heard of those.

When the soviets invaded Prague in 1968 the Romanians thought gee if they do that to us were not ready. So they had a lot of cheap skilled labor so they set out making these trainers for all the civilians so they would be trained and used against a soviet invasion. The mechanics and barrel are made by the folks that were to become CZ The wood is made by who knows who and of who knows what. In other words, ugly wood with good workins.

Try to find one of these Polish Radom WZ48 single-shot 22lr training rifles.
It has the look, size, and weight of a Soviet M91/30, but in 22lr.
The barrel is a standard Mosin barrel but has a 22 caliber bore.
They are absolute tack drivers. I bought one years ago and love it.

Here is a review. I only shot mine once with Iron sites at an indoor range 25 yards. I got about a 2 inch or less group, The scope is because of that. I thought the gun should do better and it was my eyes,

That’s pretty cool. Looks like a fun rifle. I think 22 has always been my favorite caliber.

One of the most accurate 22 rifles I have is a single shot Kimber of Oregon Model 82. It must weight 12 pounds. It’s got this giant bull barrel that isn’t tapered at all. But it will shoot through the same one ragged hole all day long.

If you want a single-shot rifle that is an absolute tack driver, take a look at the NEF (New England Firearms) aka, Harrington & Richardson break-open rifle in 17 HMR.
NEF takes a 12-Gauge barrel blank and drills a .17 caliber hole through it.
That is the ultimate "heavy barrel"
It weighs as much as a shotgun so there is no recoil from the little 17 HMR. Lots of fun 😊
