We have a couple of hummingbirds that have been coming around and I have a pair of feeders in a small apple tree outside of my son's window. They have gotten pretty friendly and will fly very close to me while feeding. They also land on some branches nearby and I was able to get this one sitting still. I find that they will hang out for several minutes before refueling and going off on their merry way.

Cool. I've never seen one quit moving before.

Hi,

When I first put out feeders for the little guys, I did some reading and learned they spend much of their day resting. I'd either never seen or paid any attention to that, but now that they've been hanging around for two or three years, I notice a couple of 'em who really do spend a lot of time just watching the world go by!

Nice picture!

The spray from my garden hose seems to draw the humming birds out of the woods to shower. They'll spend sometimes five minutes or so hovering under the raining spray then light in a nearby tree to preen themselves.

They also will land on collard leaves to drink from large droplets that pool on them.

Had five of them out there the other day. :D
