Hummer ?

Not being a ornithologist by any means, I caght this little bugger on film, while drinking coffee on my deck this morning. I know it was a juvenile Hummer, due to its size and it would actually stop, while getting nectar from the flower.


Well, did a litle research. This little bugger is a hummingbird hawk moth. Told you I wasn't a ornithologist. Or entomologist, for that matter. Oh well :? .

those are cool. my sister used to have flower garden in NY state and we'd see both humming birds and those moths in the garden. they look and act a lot like humming birds. i was really surprised to see those things!

I have one of those "Magnum PI" Hawaiian shirts. While visiting my SIL in Colorado I had a ruby throated hummingbird come up and try to sup off my left shoulder. It was the strangest feeling. Sitting out on her porch, we were constantly being dive bombed by those speedy little things. Very cool
