How to configure the RPR bolt so I can check bump on brass

Hello,

I have a set of Redding Precision Shell Holders so I can bump the shoulder back on my brass minimally and still chamber it fine (probably looking for about 0.002" headspace gap). This is for an RPR. Anyways, besides using a Hornady comparator to compare between once fired brass and the brass I'm working with a body die (I like to neck size as a separate operation), I would like to start the brass "long" and verify it won't chamber and slowly move in until it chambers just snug and then drop it 0.002" more. In order to do this I need to reconfigure my bolt to "feel" this happening. Do I just remove the ejector from the bolt face? Hopefully I can leave the extractor. Also do I need to remove the firing pin assembly? If so, how does the bolt handle stay on the bolt.

I just save one fireformed case and use it for a gage when setting up the dies.

I can do that. I have a comparator. I was also wanting to go ahead and chamber it long and ease it back just enough to have about 0.002" headspace.

Use this to measure your headspace on the 3 fired cartridges (these will come with instructions too).

Then set your sizing die to bump the shoulder back about 0.003 inches as measured on the headspace gauges.

Lock you die, this is now only good for that rifle and no others, unless you go thru the same process.

Also remember to trim your OAL case length.
