I think a bearcat might be one the short list of guns ill be on the look out for.

I like that its smaller than the single six and will be easy for the smaller hands to hold up and grasp.

I was just wondering how the accuracy was overall becuase i want to believe ive read some in the past that some had problems, not sure if the shooter fault or not. Not looking for bulls eye caliber gun but good overall for casual shooting.

Thanks for the input.

I've seen Bearcats that'll shoot tiny groups!

I've had a few of each, and generally, the Bearcats are better.

Sometimes the longer barreled SS are OK, but that overbore to accomodate the 22 magnum hurts accuracy unless you smush your bullets with a Paco Kelly tool....

Unless you have great eyesight, the SS will be much easier to line up. I have both, I rarely miss with the SS. The BC is an accurate gun especially at the range when holding your arm straight out at the target. However when you aim down towards the ground say 20 to 30 feet away then the BearCat tends to shoot way high, the SS does the same thing but not any where near the BC. With the Six I may have to aim at the bottom of a can to hit in the middle. With the BC I have to aim 2 to 3 feet in front of the can. If I had to choose between the two I would take the Single Six hands down.

+1 on all the above. I have only then or so years on a Single-Six and no longer own one.

Back to you original question. I carry my Bearcats. For years they were left stock.
The one I have now I have carved on because it is SS. After test fire. I slightly opened [lowered] the top strap a smiggen to open the wallow. I shaved just a bit off gap of the rear sight making a slight "V" and deepened the "slot above the place the hammer comes to rest. If I have money to burn I would have a 'Smith trim a Vaquero front sight and fit it to the barrel. I would then trim two standard size BC sights soldered to the Vaquero. Sounds odd?
Not with the sight picture I have worked out on paper. All there would be left to do to Taylor Throat the barrel/forcing cone and set for end shake. Finally take her to the range with a small file in hand. Set the targets a seventy five yards.

My suggestions to you are: you will get one of two barrel sizes from Ruger. Buy as many different types of .22 as your budget can afford. When I first got started I traded small quantities for test fire. Clean the gun off the bat [using a proper set of tools]. When ever possible I clean form the forcing cone otherwise I always use a muzzle guard. I did shorten the tip of the SS"s trigger because it pinched my trigger finger. I like stocks with a bit of palm swell and tapper on the bottom. Like KLR650 I live in a dusty area. That said I rarely disassemble my BC. I degrease the bearing surfaces, wait a bit and reapply grease or what I have.

The BC is not an easy gun to shoot out of the box. It is a rewarding fire arm engage. The number of user posts show a masochistic trend. I say. If you know someone who has one that runs I would part with some cash an spend some time learning.

Oh, get a steel ejector housing.

I've had my bearcat for about a week now. My first one. I love it as much as I thought I would. Shoots spot on for the most part, maybe just a hair to the right. I'm very happy with it. I will say that it is a touch finicky with grip, but if I do what I'm supposed to, it'll do what its supposed to. I love it.

At short ranges-30 ft or so-my Bearcat is just as accurate as either of my Single Sixes. Just have to focus more due to the smaller sights. Only complaint with Bearcat is small grips. Finally found old set of Fitz plastic stag oversized grips. Work great & look like a"mini bisley cat". Wish current gripmakers would offer something similar in wood at reasonable price.
