4" GP100 Target Grey. Like new. Finish is like a teflon pan :)

I remember that finish. It was OK looking but I never figured out why they put a surface finish on Stainless Steel. They've got to be rare in the Gp-100. I don't remember seeing very many. Lots of Super Redhawks had that finish.

From back in 2003 when GunBlast described the 'Target Gray' finish on an SP-101

http://www.gunblast.com/Ruger_SP101.htm

quote> Since the introduction of the SP101, it has been offered in several variations and chamberings, the latest of which is the new .357 Magnum Target Gray revolver tested here. The Target Gray is a special process that Ruger uses on a few of their stainless revolvers to produce a unique finish. The Target Gray retains all of the positive properties of stainless steel, such as durability and corrosion resistance, while providing a darker non-glare finish to the surface of the metal. Ruger has offered this finish in the past on some of their target rifles, hence the name. Ruger is now offering this new finish on a few of their double action revolvers in limited numbers. On these revolvers, perhaps it should be called a "Tactical Gray" finish, to best describe its useful application. Whatever it is called, it is a very good-looking finish that is much more durable that the bluing on a carbon steel gun, and is not shiny and reflective like a standard stainless finish. The result of applying the Target Gray process to the SP101 is a handsome, businesslike appearance that won’t shine like a mirror when drawn from its holster. <end

I think it looks great! I have several traditional SS guns and I'd gladly trade the utility finish for the one in the OP. I prefer a deep rich blue, but a satin darkened SS or electroless nickel is hard to beat.

I have and really like a stainless GP 6 inch barrel. Would really like to have 4 or 5 inch. Tried the Hogue grips but like the ones you have best or Pachmayr decellerator's. Enjoy your new toy!! If you ever decide you would like stainless finish I understand not that hard to remove the target gray finish?? Did I forget to mention the 4 inch GP is really nice looking!! :D

I want to crack and egg on it, but I still like it.

A 3" Target Grey fixed-sighted GP would be something!

Wow, That is nice. I accidentally got a P94 with this finish and really like it. I understand it scratches easy though. Have you shot that very much? I was wondering about how the finish will hold up on the cyl.

I had one and it was a nice non reflective finish. The action was verrrry smooth compared to a stainless or blued GP. I'm sure it had something to do with the TG finish.

Sold it for a different toy and wish I had it back, sub one inch twenty five yard groups were common with this gun. Didn't realize what I had until I sold it.

I think that is a very elegant looking finish. I'd love to send my 15 year old SS GP100 back to Ruger to have that finish applied.

I have the same target grey finish on my 22-250 KM-77VT Mark II 'yote rifle.

I had one until recently when I traded it. It held up very well and I didn't find that it scratched easily at all. I bought it new and never had an issue with it, trigger pull was the best I've gotten out of the box of any brand.

Yes, the trigger is the best in either mode of any GP I have played with, is comparabe to Performance Center S&W.
Have an older blued non-lugged GP with an excellent SA pull, but the DA is not terrific, seems each of the six stations pulls a little differently.

I like that finish but would like it more were it a 6" model. Just something about the extra inch on these GP's. 8)

Looks great! I don't recall it, but has Ruger ever offered it on any Blackhawks?
