Beautifully colored bird. I believe your sub-species is a bit more brilliant than ours here in the East.

Sometimes back, I was visiting CowPens National Battelfield in SC, where a very pivotal Revolutionary war was fought. It was a weekday, so I was one of only a fiew walking on the battlefield.

There was a light, patchy, misty haze across the field that morning when I looked over and a flock of about 15 wild turkey appeared, just calmly foraging the grasses. Really a wonderful site...I tried to walk a bit closer, but they are shy birds and kept a certain distance before moving off into the haze.
