I agree with Spock in Amok Time: Wanting something is often more fulfilling. Not logical but so often true. It works for kids and adult. How many of us as kids dreamed of the gee whiz toy but after a few days it is just another toy. Our imaginations fueled the fun possibilities waiting for us.

I still remember getting my first gun for Christmas when I was 12. an Ithaca model 49 22 lever action single shot. I took that every where I went, probably even slept with it. I still have it over 50 yrs later and still pull it from the back of the safe and shoot it occasionally.

my childhood friend had one but his dad got rid of it after we grew up.

many years later I was buying a couple guns from a fellow and my eyes twinkled a bit when he handed me this and asked if I had any kids.

I do, and although they have ample variations of just about everything, I still wanted it anyway to rekindle that childhood feeling.

the pawn guys down here are more savvy than that. They have a pretty good idea of things worth.

Mine was a Mossberg 142K at Christmas 1956. Still have it.
