Hi...

I know this is an ongoing drama but the local Gander Mountain store here in rain drenched York, Pa. has put up a Going Out of Business sale banner, according to the local newspaper.

I doubt I will stop by to say good-bye. The last time I was in their store, the prices during their big sale were higher than any gun shop I have ever been in, including Cabela's and Bass Pro Shop.

For those in the area, the newspaper article indicated prices of up to 30% off, according to a company spokesman. In my experience, that means they probably raised their prices 50% and then took 30% of that price.

Without doubt!

Glad to see some other people from York on here! I saw the article too, and while I've found some good deals there over the years, there prices recently have been high.

RV parts and camping supplies way overpriced,RV sales way WAY overpriced. You can go to any of the rv forums and ask them about camping worlds rv service and repairs you can read all night long, and it's all bad.

Gander by me had some fine employees and some fair gun prices a while ago....today they suck like a two-dollar ho......will not be missed

Now they say that they are not closing all the stores. But from what I've seen of the prices in my the local store the liquidation sale will have to go on for a bit for the prices to even get down to semi reasonable.

With all the different threads here and all the talk, and I can only think how many other forums it's being discussed, they are sure getting a lot of free advertising.

I remember Gander years ago when they were a mail order house. I got some good buys back then. I've gone to a couple of the Gander stores and can't believe how overpriced they are. We had one open here in NC a few years back. Back then it was before we got our Bass Pro and Cabela's. I was excited we finally have a place to shop. It didn't take the wife or me long to realize how outrageous their prices were. It was time for us to go and we haven't been back to one since. On my end there's no love loss. CYA !
