for a dealer shipping to CA is easy, takes less than 30 minutes to set up and complete. That said I'm guessing these won't be CA approved ie on their safety list. Somebody from CA will be here shortly I suspect

Ruger's six series guns (speed six, security six, service six) are all CA legal.

Okay, I am now registered with the State of CA to ship firerams to FFL's in that state. I reviewed the roster of approved firearms that can be shipped into the state and the Six series guns are not on it. However, I sent them a letter asking about guns that have been discontinued by a manufacturer since the Six series was discontinued when they came out with the GP100 series and the GP's are approved. We'll see what they say.

Now that that is taken care of, someone buy these great guns. :D

Perhaps I am mistaken about shipping the six series into California but I do know of ruger forum members in CA legally owning six series revolvers.

As I understand it, ONLY DA revolvers that are C&R (50 years old or older) or on the "Safe Gun List" (not it's official name, just what we call it--with our tongues so far in our cheeks that they draw blood....) can be "imported" into CA. I don't think the Six Series qualifies yet, although there are people more qualified to date them than I.

I do have two "Sixes" but I got them from other CA Rugernuts by person-to-person transfer (they only charge you for that).

This sucks, big time. Those re-furbished po-lice guns are perfect for a whole lot of stuff!

Okay, let's put the CA shipping question to rest. I am able to ship guns to CA, I am registered with the appropriate office. However, at this time I cannot ship a Six series gun to CA because they are not on the approved list. I have queried the office that handles this and asked them about guns that have been discontinued by the manufacturer and were replaced with basically the same type gun, just a newer model. I will await their official answer. I really don't need any opinions on why these guns are not approved for "importation" into CA.

In the mean time, I thank all those that responded. I want to get back to the subject of the guns for sale. If you have an opinion on the guns that are for sale, fine, I'll read them and comment if/as needed.

I am open to trades (Six series guns only). The worst I can do is say "thanks, but no thanks".

They aren't bead blasted, I blasted them with 120 grit aluminum oxide. That's about the only way you would get a nice even finish. They're not a smooth as a standard gun finish but not real rough either. About like a 600 to 1000 grit auto body wet/dry paper. Since it is blasted like that it holds a wipe down with a light oil very well and you don't ever see any fingerprints.
