FS: Redhawk .357 5.5 inch SOLD

This gun is in excellent condition. I'd say 95-98%. No scratches, stocks are perfect. The hammer spur does have a noticeable ding on it. If you look real close in the third picture, you can see it out on the tip. Looks like it must have banged against a rock or something. No box, but it does come with the handsome holster shown. I just acquired this from a guy who was given the gun by an old lady whose husband had just died. He says it looked brand new when he got it. He put about 50 rounds of .38 special through it. I only shot a handful of 180gr .357 rounds and it shoots sweet! Serial number puts it at a mfg. date of 1984.

I have the 44 and 45 twins of this Redhawk. Perfect size and Weigand makes a great inexpensive no drill scope rail for these. Both mine wear the Weigand rail. Man I want the 357 to go along but will have to wait.I almost lost my coffee when you mentioned shooting 38's in this heavy duty 357!!!
Hope someone buys this monster soon so I can quit drooling!

I just paid $688.90 for one that had been fired 12 times when new, cleaned and put up for 25 years. Somebody needs to snatch this thing up pdq.

I shot mine this past weekend with some warm hand loads. It was like shooting target level .38's from a "normal-sized" 357.

Anything I trade for, I need to be able to sell easily for at least $700. I will consider trades, but you have to be willing to put me on the winning end. If you don't think that sounds fair, then sell the item you want to trade and use the cash to buy this dream of a revolver. :wink:

I understand that. I just don't have any of the intrinsically worthless pieces of green paper sitting around the house right now. On the other hand, I have all these pieces of intrinsically valuable metal in a safe. Just seemed easier to trade them directly rather than bringing the paper into it. Which then has to be taken to the Post Office and exchanged for still another piece of paper!

I would really like to own a .357 Redhawk so I'll try to think of a way to get to the big city to sell some silver. In general I try to stay away from such places but that's where I can get spot for my silver.

That is kind of the way silver and gold works. It IS money. You take it to someplace that buys metal for spot and they hand you the FRN's.

18 ounces at $39 is $702. It goes up and down. If silver is down to 37, you wait until it goes back up to $40.

Sorry, not trying to convince you to do something you aren't comfortable with. I would just like to see more Classifieds with a metal component listed. Wouldn't it be great if every post said, "$700, 18 ounces of silver or half an ounce of gold?"

I agree with your point 100%. I, however, have no experience dealing in precious metals.
Seems silly that I want to trade a hunk of "precious metal" for a few pieces of worthless paper, eh?
Fortunately for me, my landlord and local grocery store takes those same pieces of paper in trade for food and shelter. I hope they don't figure it out. :wink:

If inflation really gets going... I wonder if that will remain true. Didn't happen that way in Argentina. At some point people decide they don't want cash because it isn't worth anything. So barter kicks in and people start trading for food or guns and ammo. Or something compact that actually holds intrinsic value.... like precious metals!

If I was a landlord, I would be happy to take silver or gold.

When I sold my last car, I listed it for FRN's as well as metal.

FRN's aren't money. They are promissory notes. When nobody believes the promise anymore, they become kindling or toilet paper. Money _by definition_ has intrinsic value. Coins made out of precious metal are money. They put the "paper" in front of "paper money" to let you know it is only fiat currency!
