For Sale 38-55 Insert Barrel for 12 Gauge. This full length insert barrel is approximately 31 inches long. It allows use 38- 55 ammo in your 12 gauge barrel. The length is adjustable to the length of the threads with the knurled ring. The extractor rides on the shotgun extractor and will extract the shell. I bought this with the plan to buy a 12 gauge 38 55 combination or cape gun and make it into a double rifle. I haven’t had the available funds to follow through. It would fit a double shotgun, over and under or single barrel. I don’t believe it would work on a pump or auto. The bore shows some pitting, and you can see the outside of the barrel in the photos. You can see the proof marks on the photos. I paid $150 plus shipping for this on GunBroker a number of years ago so that’s what I would like for it, $150 plus shipping.

That is a Belgian-manufactured insert. They were a fairly common accessory back in the late 19th/early 20th centuries that I remember seeing in either a Wards or Sears catalog. Remington also offered some in various calibers (all big or medium bore) for their double shotguns. A friend of mine has one in the left barrel of his Remington Model 1889 10-guage. It's in 40-70 Bottleneck and since he's not a reloader, he's never fired it. His is also Belgian-manufactured.
