Fred Meyers has guns

Wow unreal you guys that live in the Northwest and have Fred Meyers stores some are now selling guns.
Stopped at Fred Meyers today in Snohomish Washington and could not beleive they now sell Rugers I have never seen guns in any of their stores before.
They had some semi auto's but the one that caught my eye was a BlackHawk 44 mag. flat top, 4 5/8" barrel, Stainless Steel, laminated Rosewood grips, unfluted mag. $549 think I may have to have one.
Finally a place to buy guns where you can clip coupons out of the paper for good discounts.

We have Fedddies stores in Southern Idaho but I never go there. Now I may have a reason.

Yes "Freddies" used to sell guns. I bought guns from them when I lived in Oregon back in '89.

Are we talking about "Fred Miejers" the line of stores that started in Mid-West Michigan?

Edited: Wow I just Googled Fred Meyers supprised to see there is two like chains with the same name but different owners.

Yes Coco puffs and a Ruger 44 at this Grocery store or a Springfeild 45, or long gun, this is only at a few of their stores, wish it was all of them.

When I lived in Utah almost all large grocery stores sold guns and ammo at their camera bar, so seeing this store made me feel at home.

Draw back Washington state has 5 day waiting period to pick up a hand gun.

That's not so bad when you consider it's 10 days in California. Another ridiculous Cal law states there must be 30 days between new gun purchases, and CCW is near impossible. On top of all that, So Cal doesn't have 4 seasons. At this point in my life, I've run out of options.

I picked up a couple of new Walther TPH's from FM years ago for $350 each. They had the best price around for that little gem. DA Alert... ended up selling both of them for some common pistol that I don't even remember.

When I was a kid I bought my Win 9422 from Raley's Supermarket (1974). The good ol' days! Raley's stopped carrying guns many many years ago. Now their superstores carry next to nil in the way of sporting goods.

No waiting period here in Alaska. It used to be that if you had a CC permit it was NICS exempt so you didn't even have to wait for them to do the phone call. No more NICS exempt but no need for a CC permit any more either.

I bought my last Ruger Redhawk at Wally World.

I too recall back in the day Freddies in Oregon selling both firearms and ammo. I'll have to check out some of the local Freddies in Washington.

I was in the Warrenton, Ore., Fred Meyers on Saturday and they had long guns and hand guns in the sporting goods department.

Definitely NOT something we see in the Portland area stores--probably for a few reasons.

I did not look at prices. There were Rugers, Springfield XD's, Taurus, and Smith handguns. Might have been others but I didn't look too closely.

Mixed in with the long guns I noticed two stainless Mini-14's.

Isn't it BATFE now? Well, I guess if they have fertilizer and diesel fuel that would qualify for the Explosive part.

When I was a 21 y.o. construction worker on a project at Phelps Dodge copper smelter in Playas, NM, the company store was the coolest place. You could buy groceries, furniture, clothes, and sporting goods including guns, ammo, and reloading components right there ... and if you worked for PD they would take it out of your check spread out over time. It's a good thing I wasn't actually working for them, I would never have made a decent paycheck, would have spent it all on guns and bullets.

PD shut down that smelter and sold the townsite to the Feds - they turned it into an "urban warfare" training site for Homeland Security. Company I was working for built a bowling alley and rec center for the PD workers who live there. This was in the early 80s. It was 150 miles from nowhere so I guess they had to provide some entertainment. Ours was hunting jackrabbits after work in the evenings. Good times. Also visited the "Desert Den" saloon in Hachita, NM a few times while working there - the one Skeeter wrote about and frequented. Never saw him there, though.
