I picked my GSR last week, found one while trolling a gunshop. My wife was with me that day, and when I walked up to her she said "Don't you want to buy that? Get it!" What a gal...!
I installed an old Bushnell 2x6 IER handgun scope from an previous Mosin scout project and it works OK until the scratch accumulates for a Leupold scope. I may get the variable.
All the ammo I had was some old 7.62x51 milurp - broke it in firing and cleaning for the first 10 rounds. Grouping was as expected with milsurp, but the rifle was surprisingly comfortable to shoot off the bench, and easy standing. My .308 dies arrive Monday along with 3 and 5-round magazines and I'll be shooting a BUNCH of cast lead boolits next week!
Already thinking of another FH for this rifle. Has anyone here tried this FH/Comp on their Ruger GSR? http://www.blackrivertactical.com/product_files/Data_Sheet_&_Install_Instructions_FLBS-1-762.pdf
As it is, this Ruger is a great rifle. The trigger is VERY good with just a hint of creep, and I look forward to alot of trigger time with it.
