Flu

seriously go to health food & vitamin store, find some OSHA root, take it, take zinc, take vitamin C, Osha can be made into tea. It boost your immune system, knocks the heck out of virus & bacterial infections
It saved me two years ago with Type A Viral influenza, nasty critter to fight off

There has been three pandamic flu attacks in modern times.

I well never forget the Asian Flu pandemic of 1957. It came on like a clap of thunder with no warning. I was walking home from summer school feeling fine. During the 15 minute walk, I had a full blown case of the flu. It caused an estimated 1 to 2 millions deaths world wide. It came on so fast that some people feeling OK would suddenly pass out.

The 1968 Hong Kong pandemic flu missed me. Maybe 4 million deaths.

The real killer was the Spanish pandemic flu of 1918-19. Perhaps as many as 40 million people died from that one. That one also missed me.

Only time I had it was in the Army-miserable place to have it. A combination of lack of proper rest, overcrowded living quarters, unsympathetic attitude of superiors. I am a firm believer in Vitman C, been taking it since the 90s, Linus Pauling was right.

Remember the "Swine Flu" ?
We had a Production Foreman that was a practical joker; When the Swine Flu was in full swing he went up to the Shipping office, got an outside line and called back in to the plant, He knew the Production Manager was not in yet, so he asked for the Lab Secretary, the Conversation went like this:
"Hello Mary (Snort, Snort) this is Rip (his nickname) (Oink Oink Snort) tell Ed (Oink oink snort snort)I wont be in today because (snort oink, snort) I have the Swine flu (snort snort). A bit later he comes into the lab and she about freaks out. Some of us knew what he had pulled. It took all day before she forgave him !!

Late last year I got hit with a strain that hit hard in minutes, and took weeks to fully recover.

This was after I had had the flu vaccine. So, the prognosticators of which strains will be active miss, it happens. But they get it right more often than not.

And as to the Swine flu. That vaccine used a live virus, today's are killed virus. It was mandatory and the up shot of it was that, within days, we couldn't have launched an alert fighter if WWIII had started. They had to bring in a reserve outfit to handle the alert chores. Oh, they were kept away from those that were already contaminated.

Saw Doc yesterday. Tamiflu and rest in order. At least the parts to fix my stovetop expresso maker have arrived.

I haven't had the Flu, or a Cold for that matter, for decades and I never get a Flu shot. I take 2000mg of Vitamin C, 5000 units of Vitamin D, Zinc, Probiotics, and many others per day. I sprinkle Oregano on most meals and wash my hands a lot, especially after going to town. Keeping your hands away from your eyes and face also helps and at the first sign of a scratchy throat I gargle with warm salt water... or maybe I'm just lucky and have a good immune system. No, I don't plan on living forever but I don't want to waste time and money going to doctors (AKA pill salesmen).

I was friends with the Medics and always managed to AVOID the Flu Vaccine although my med records indicate otherwise; I learned early on that the Vaccine would give me the flu without fail.
I avoid it now at the VA even though it bothers my Primary Care, I DID let her talk me into the Pneumonia vaccinations, I figured that with my COPD it was a WISE precaution !!
