I have one striker fired pistol that has just flat out been bugging me for
quite a while. The let off has been quite rough and the pressure to get
it to go was far more than I was willing to adjust to.
Got to thinking about it and tried the dry (no lubrication on mating
surfaces) "dry fire" to see if metal on metal would gradually make things
better. If it did, I could not tell. Then I thought FLITZ! Since there is
no abrasive in the polish (according to their write up), I thought a little
of that on mating surfaces and dry fire should not hurt, and MAY do a
little good.
Tried that by using a Q-tip to get what sticks to the inside of the top
and applying that to the mating surfaces, reassemble and dry fire.
After ten dry-fire cycles I disassemble the gun, clean out all of the
Flitz and then reapply the Flitz. Did that ten times with ten dry fire
cycles each. After that I cleaned out all of the Flitz, cleaned it again,
and applied a bit of oil.
The most I can say is that it is less bad than it was. No where near
good, just less bad. I think I'll do that once each day for a week or
so and see if there is any improvement. If not, at least I will get in
a bunch of dry firing.
