After a couple weeks of bad luck like wifes car breaking down,water pressure tank leaking,truck breaking down and having to put my best hound to sleep finally a break that put a smile on my face.I've been looking for an extra stock for my Ruger Deerfeild 99/44 and could only find a semi inletted walnut stock at Macon gunstocks.
I found the last stock a company had.It was a complete stock with rear swivel and butplate.At the same time I asked about a mag for the 99 and the nice lady said they had a couple.One mag was old stock and the packaging had come apart and I could have that for the old stock price so a lot cheaper than the new ones.Well who cares about packaging when your going to opening it anyways ! So I bought the stock.mag and an extra front mounting screw.I'm going to keep this stock unused and refinish the original stock with a walnut stain and maybe some truoil or something that's easy to touch up from use in the woods.I'm a dogger where we deer hunt so getting scratches on my rifle is pretty much unavoidable.I bought the 99/44 just before my deer hunt this past fall and got a nice big doe with it so as far as I'm concerned it's paid for itself already !
