They literally paid me to join. My then insurance company gave me a discount of
almost $100/yr, if I was a member. I joined for (IIRC) about $25, and have never
paid AARP since.
I find their politics appalling! But when you can make over $50, just to join . . . . .
(department of redundancy department, I made ONE payment only) AND that
discount continued until I moved here in '18.
I'll also mention that they are part of the Medicare thingie I'm signed up with
and my . . one . . prescription (LISINOPRIL) has not cost me anything for over
two years now. OH, and the PCP co-pay is zero.
I dislike them intensely, but when I have more money in my pocket by maintaining
a "membership" . . . . :roll:
