At times I wondered whay the cowboy i the song was hunted down and shot. It was clearly a case of self defense and the other cowboy drew first. Then it dawned on me...he was a horse thief!

"Out the back soor of Rosies I ran
out where the horses were tied,
I picked a good one, one that could ride..."

Just heard this song on the radio yesterday. I started singing it and she turned the channel! I immediately turned it back and continued singing.😀

I always wondered the same. Why did he run? I figured there was more to the story.

The biggest question to me was why did he go back?

I mean there are other women and it doesn’t sound like a committed long term relationship.

Exactly, he knew it was dumb going back. But he did it anyway.

Would make sense if it was his daughter or wife being held against her will. You do anything for family. But for a bar girl he calls wicked? Fool.

I wonder if thinking about this as a youth kept me from doing stupid things for lust?

Still one of my all time favorite songs.

Out the back door, of Rosa's, you are not too far from being in New Mexico, if you head West
