Duplicate Serial # Bearcat Shopkeeper??

Are you asking because you have one with the "D" in front of the serial number?

If the answer is yes, then yup must be duplicates out there!

Never ceases to amaze me, that Ruger has soooo many issues with "duplicating" serial numbers, , find out, then start to restamp guns with a "D". I do NOT recall any other gun company that this is so prevalent, I know in manufacturing that "stuff" happens, but come on, after all this time and so many guns being made??
to me it is such a common occurance, I put NO value on 'fubars'.....sorry, they are all over the place. 8)
I asked them years ago, with the old model 41 mag Blackhawk, just which one is (was) the 'duplicate' as they never stamped either one, and they told us, "whom ever calls in their gun first, gets the honor..." :?

Bottom line, just let Chad know , and he can start to report them in the RENE as they come out.

Do you know what really makes this one interesting??? Ruger gave it a 93- prefix to start with.
All the Shopkeepers are supposed to have a 95- prefix.
So...the Shopkeeper line must be up to 6300+ units sold now, and the employee accidently put the 93- prefix on it of the regular production guns.

Well...where there's one there's more!

I'm not sure what to think about that large letter "D". Looks like it might be hand-engraved. Almost too light to be a stamp, but could be a stamp.

I saw, and missed, a Shopkeeper with a large "D" before to serial number at a LGS in N.Ky. About 2 months ago. Already had a Shopkeeper, and thought about this one a day too long. The "D" appeared separated from the an, and the dealer didn't notice it as anything unusual. The D appeared stamped to me, but was even.

Not a Bearcat but got a "D" Mini-30, D583-051xx on 9/25/14 from Davidson's. D appeared to be hand scribbed with elec pencil and was a pretty sloppy job. Should have taken a pic but didn't

Chance, be interesting to see how deep that "D" is if vibro engraved. Thought the law said at least .003" deep last time looked, seems like it has not changed, "...minimum depth of .003 inch and in a print size no smaller than 1/16 inch..." from ATF website.

Could be...but they'd sure be spending a lot of extra time on that when the gun itself doesn't even have a laser etched serial number.

That would not be surprising.
