Diversity . . . of temp.

We hear so many people SCREAM for diversity. Well . . . . AZ HAS diversity . . . .
of TEMPERATURE! - - - As of 09:30 (AZ doesn't use daylight savings . . at ANY
time of the year) Phoenix was 47 degrees, while Flagstaff was three below zero.
How does FIFTY degree difference in temperature grab ya for DIVERSITY?! :wink:

According to Google Earth, Flagstaff is about 145 miles North of Phoenix. :shock:

And here you thought this needed to be in the political section. :roll:

I/we spent some time in AZ, and believe that a large cause of such temperature differences is altitude. In May Phoenix was 93 degrees, and the same day was 25 at the Grand Canyon. People were driving or riding up from Phoenix in shorts and t-shirts, getting out of their vehicles, looked at the splendor for 15 minutes, then left. The altitude in Phoenix is about 1000 feet, and the South Rim of the canyon was about 5000 feet. Flagstaff is about 7000 feet. Now, that's diversity!

Correct my daughter lives in Flag and a friend is recuperating in Phoenix from a lung transplant==night and day!!

It's quite a sight traveling west out of Flagstaff being in the middle of a forest and then suddenly you see a massive desert spread out before you.

The drive down 89A from Flagstaff to Sedona, through Oak Creek Canyon is great. I used to make that drive on regular basis while living in Sedona. Pretty good hunting up Flagstaff way. :D Up here in the Great Pacific North West we get 50° temp swings all in one day. At the same elevation as Sedona. :o

Hi,

Remember Phoenix has a diversity of types of heat, too. Hot, very hot, and freakin' hot! I know of number of Calif ex-pats who didn't understand this before they moved over there. As for daily temp swings, my neighborhood runs about 30 deg F, pretty much all year.
