Interesting to find out who got snowed on first!
It's been here for two day's now... Not enough to run the tundra on, but it is a start.
Soon I'll be able to travel freely!
WooHoo!!!!
I took this pic about 9am, as I pulled into town.....

Trapper Creek!!!...............eeeewwwwwwwww...
it is downtown Talkeetna......

I lived in AK from 1979 until 1996. I thought I recognized the building as the one where I watched the Superbowl one year. I don't remember exactly where it was, but it was close (for Alaska anyway) to Trapper Creek. It was one of the coldest winters I spent there. I don't think I ever saw Talkeetna in the winter. Almost makes me homesick...almost. I really miss the summers there.

Trapper Creek is just across the Susitna river from Talkeetna. just a few minutes away by snowmobile in winter. About 30 miles or so by road......

Judging by last nights temps it isn't going to melt here. all the lakes are frozen over....
Not enough snow yet. Getting home is going to be an issue. I insulated the van,and have heat but but unless it snows more i'm kinda stuck...

Yeah.... I there isn't much to town that is for sure.....
At least it's quiet...

reuben....

You are one up on me..... never fished that far south!
But I plan on finding a few chunks of holding water to call my own this spring.
There is a lot of water up here that gets by passed, for the popular tourist spots....

Well we got our "Election day blizzard!".....
I made it into talkeetna with only a few adventures.. kind of a slow day....

While it aint really a blizzard, we did get 4-5 inches of snow so far.. and still falling...
I will be taking my tundra on a trail scouting trip tomorrow. Gotta get home for a few weeks at least.. and this is the tricky time of year.
One thing i do now is that i'll be carrying the supplies in via pack frame, as the trails are non ATV/ATC friendly and I don't have a snow mobile on that side of the river.
I'll post some pics tomorrow after my trip....

And in keeping the topic of the thread.... I've only seen a few mosquito's...
:D
