I have a cria 1965 deerstalker ,could someone subjest a hand load using a Hornaday 240grX P T H.P. that won't put undue stress on my gun ? I normaly shoot winchester white box 240 gr S,J.H.P,'s that I buy from wally world and they work just fine ,but for fear of parts breakage I don't shoot it much .Just a few rounds to make sure the scope is still zeroed before hunting season and then only if I get a shot at a deer .I really love this gun and want to shoot it more but the gun is in 85-98 o/o shape and it would just kill me to break it . I feel like a theif as I swaped a guy a 15 year old Beratta 92 FS with at least 10,000 rounds through it even for the gun .Heres a pic of it.

The standard load of 24.0gr of H-110 with a 240gr XTP, WLP primer, should work good. I shoot a little over Max in my Deerfield to get sure function. (24.2gr). You could start lower and work-up to sure functioning. Try a couple at 23.0gr and 23.5gr and see what happens. I believe the slow powder is actually easier on the gun than the factory ammo. I also use accurate #9 powder, 20.6gr. (over max) but it works good in my gun. Again start low and work-up to sure functioning. 8) 8)

h-110 is my favroite powder for my .44/357 handguns and i've loaded a lot of rounds with it .my hog hunting load is 23.4 grs of h -110 under a hornaday 300 gr xpt w/ a cci mag primer .very hard hitting and super accurate out of my 7 1/2 mag-na-ported sbh
