Current mini 14’s

How do the current mini 14 models shoot? Any issues to know about before I consider purchasing one?

Opinions will vary on this. The type of shooting I do with mine it’s plenty accurate. I use the stock peep sight with some white paint on the front sight. I never shoot beyond 50 yards, I never shoot from a rest, most of the time I’m moving a little and shooting 12” plates and jugs of water...picture a Hickok45 video and that’s the type of shooting I do with mine.

I am not looking for sub MOA performance. Are they capable (on average) of 2 MOA?

The 583 series with a scope will shoot 1.5 inches at 100 yards with good ammo . They will shoot an inch with hornady 75 gr boatails at 100 yards but that's as heavy as you can go with that 1 in 9 twist

Yes current heavy barrels shoot great compared to the older skinny barrels. 2 moa no problem.

I can shoot 2-3 inch groups at 100 yards with the iron sights all day long.
Good eneough to take out a gopher or whatever you're shooting at!

Is there any correlation of accuracy and wood vs. synthetic stock? There’s a video out there claiming wood shoots better.

Second that.

My 585 series will group at 100 yds the size of a US Quarter with the right ammo.
