Since their introduction in 2011, Ruger has developed 5 basic versions and, from that, created at least 34 different models using different colors, finishes, and special editions.
Here is the list I've compiled so far:

Ruger 1911 model numbers as of November 1, 2017:
.45 ACP, unless otherwise specified.

6700 standard 5" barrel
6700C Talo features a 5-inch barrel, two-tone blue and stainless steel finish, Cerakote slide
6701 standard (5") NRA on left rear slide and NRA seal on right rear slide.
6702 commander
6703 Navy Seal only 500 made Has a USN SR# First edition
6704 Navy Seal Foundation Ruger 1911 CMD only 500 made Has a NSF SR# Second edition
6707 is listed as the same gun as 6708 on Talo's web site. So maybe it is a different model year?
6708 commander night watchman 4.25" barrel, , black nitride, Trijicon night sights.
6709 full size night watchman 5" barrel, , black nitride, Trijicon night sights
6710 was for the Shootists 35th Anniversary gun.
6711commander lightweight
6713 Full size, Olive Drab Cerakote Stainless.
6715 full size, rail, black nitride frame and slide.
6716 commander is a Talo Exclusive deluxe carry with CRKT knife.
6717 commander, Black Tribond (Ionbond) slide, thin black G-10 grips, 100 made, a Bangers / Talo exclusive.
6718 commander lightweight OD green
6719BL commander lightweight with Blue Frame
6720 commander lightweight night watchman, black nitride, Trijicon night sights.
6722 commander lightweight in 9mm
6724 standard (5") SS black rubber crimson trace laser grips
6725 commander SS black rubber Laser Grips
6728 standard (5") wood Laser Grips
6730 commander lightweight with wood Laser Grips
6735 commander steel Red Anodized Grip Frame and red grips
6736 standard (5") Target Model
6737 commander SR1911-CMD-A-NSM Navy Seal Museum / TALO, 200 made, S.N. NSM001–NSM200.
6739 standard (5") 10mm
6743 commander lightweight 9mm Talo Navy Seal (Naval Special Warfare) 1 0f 500 (6/2017)
6744 commander lightweight Alaska State Troopers 75th Anniversary – only 75 made
6746 standard (5") steel special ed. NRA – black nitride slide with NRA logo and 2nd amendment .45acp
6747 commander lightweight Purple 9mm – purple anodized LW frame & laminated grips
6755 standard (5") SR1911-LE, black nitride, Trijicon night sights, rail, .45acp

Note: "Commander" is trade marked by Colt. Ruger is careful to identify its medium sized 1911 models as "Commander- Style ".

Special models:
1)1 Of 100 engraved on both sides of the slide with simulated ivory grip panels and red logo.

2) 1 of 100 (186?) right side of slide has two crossed muskets with the numbers "12" and "2" on the top and bottom of the cross. The left side is inscribed with "TASK FORCE LETHAL WARRIOR" and "OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM". The wood grip panels are engraved "RANGER WARRIOR" with an emblem with the number "4" in the middle.

"I had these done by Baron for my son's Battalion when they were deployed to Afghanistan in 2012. The 2nd Battailion of the 12th Infantry Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division was deployed to the Kunar Province from March-2012 until December-2012.
There were 186 of the SR1911's done; some had a nickname, or call sign, also engraved under the ejection port. These are generally termed "Deployment Weapons"; have no info as to whether any other SR1911's were made up as such. They were shipped to Specialty Sports in Colorado Springs, home of Fort Carson and the 4th ID.
I would think these would be pretty hard to come by. Serial# range was in the 670-44XXX; more or less."

3) 1 of 300 engraved on both sides of the hi-polished slide and trimmed in gold. Inscribed on the left side with " THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS" and the right side with "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED". The grips are simulated ivory with a bald eagle and scroll work etched in. (see picture)

4) 1 of 300 engraved on both sides of the hi-polished slide with gold trim. Inscribed on the left with "PROTECTING AMERICA'S FREEDOM" and on the right with "FREEDOM ISN'T FREE". Simulated ivory grip panels have scroll work and the letters "USA" in gold.

5) 1 of 500 All blue "Navy Seal" with the left side having the Navy Seal emblem and the right side the Ruger logo. The sides of the slide are hi-polished and the balance matted. The wood grip panels have about a 60% basket weave carving and the Ruger logo carved in the middle.

If someone knows of others, please let us know.

To clarify the Special models 2), the quote is from a post I made previously, I think on the ROCS Forum. There were 186. The Brigade Commander, Col. Mingus, received
#670-44444.

9mm, 45ACP, and 10mm Auto.
Steel frame and alloy.
5" and 4.25" barrel/slide.
Adjustable and one-pc rear sights.
The rest are just finish, paint, and aftermarket grip panels.
Many "models" were not/are not general production anyway.

Well maybe they took note of how HD makes 30 models with the same power plant

Similar to all the various automobile "models" we've seen over the years.

I guess it's all about what 'floats your boat', as they say.
I once saw an award winning Ruger Bearcat display with about a hundred Bearcats, all the same except for the markings.
Some might have called it 'boring' too.

Stuff posted in the "Collecting" forum easily tends to get rather specific, but that's quite OK with most of us who are here for all the info we can get.

As Ruger introduces more and more models with only barely-perceptible cosmetic differences I think we'll see more of this. It's nice to have all the subtle variations of a certain general model posted in a list like the above.

Nice work, Terry!

Why you picking on my CATS......to be more accurate I think there was only 54 BEAR CATS......

And yes the display was boring....The interesting part was finding them....

You will get use to people questioning your sanity if you do this long enough    RR

Found another model!

Model number 6731 - 'Gold' LW frame.

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/728059187

The gaps in the list of model numbers leads me to believe there are more out there.
I'm guessing they are very limited runs.... or...Ruger has assigned model numbers to guns that have not yet been produced.
