My earlier boxs have the serial #s inscribed with pencil. Later Ruger used grease pencils. Does anyone know about when the changed occured or if they were using both methods at the same time?
The 22 revolvers had pencil on the end of the box until the 67/68 time period I think. The Blackhawks had grease pencil on the end from the 50's until around the same time as the 22 revolvers, then the number went on the side of the box.
