Well, I'm a southerner, and I enjoy them. But I've never tried the canned ones. I always get them hot & fresh from various roadside stands. I always ask for a sample from the pot before I buy any. That lets me know they are done right.

Like so many foods to some,, they can be an acquired taste.

And yes,, you can get various flavored types.

Hot n fresh from roadside vendors is the way to go... don't try to eat em while driving...too messy and takes 2 hands

Ron,, if you happen to see any places along the roads coming here,, stop & get them. They are best when hot & fresh. But I'll see if anybody local is doing any around the time of the Gathering.

Had ‘em when we were on a vacation in SC years back. I loved them, my wife not so much. I can’t imagine them canned… that sounds just wrong.

Fresh Hot boiled peanuts are a delicacy in the south and I eat them every chance I get.

They're hot, juicy; salty, a bit sweet and creamy.

Fried peanuts are excellent. I ate them shell and all. Had them for the first time in the Outer Banks a few summers ago. Have not had boiled peanuts yet.

We moved to Florida from PA. I see stands along the road selling them but never tried any. Our local Sams club sells them canned as well.

Sam’s Clubs around here sell them frozen in big 5# bags.

I tried to think of something else that would be horrible in a can and only one thing came close to canned boiled peanuts, is a canned fat juicy steak which would equal the abomination of hot boiled peanuts in a can

We go up to visit my wife’s family around Savannah a couple of times a year. Her uncle Wayne boils a bushel of peanuts for family gatherings and we’ll bring back a couple of gallon ziplock bags full for snacking.

I'm assuming that Savannah is in Georgia? That area s the one in which I'm most familiar, Swainsboro to be exact, though I havent been there in many years. And yep, boiled peanuts. I remember seeing barefooted women, in house dresses, squatting beshde a pile of peanuts freshly pulled/dug and picking them from the stems. They wouod get amybe a bushel then pay the service ststion attendent.

Yes sir, GA. My wife was born ~40 miles NW of Savannah and her mother had seven siblings so we have lots of extended family to visit with, along with huge gatherings for Easter and Thanksgiving at the family cabin.

Well if you like boiled peanuts, then you must try boiled chitlins (pork intestines).
They smell so good while being boiled!

If you have a Sam’s Club nearby they sell large bags of frozen boiled peanuts, regular or spicy. They’re MUCH better than canned!
