Attaching a Bayonet on a SR-556

Has anyone ever attached a bayonet to a SR-556? The only adapter I can fine will not work with my barrel length.

Any number of reasons - boar spear, crowd control around the barbecue, got a bayonet & want to do something with it, or maybe just so your hunting buddies can stick it in the ground with your cap on the butt stock, if you're killed by a bear. Why do some folks cover their firearms with picatinny rails? No real reason needed!

My 16 inch Hbar barrel on a Bushmaster has a flip up sight on the gas block and a bayonet mount under the barrel. It was an aftermarket part that I don't know who made it. I think I purchased the sight/mount around 2012. So I think they have been on the market at one point.
I have never looked into buying a bayonet for an AR-15.

kmoore, I have one similar to that but like you, I can't remember where the gas block sight came from.
For the OP: I don't think there's any possibility of attaching a bayonet to that gas block.

Maybe a better question is: Why are you questioning why he wants to add one to his rifle?

An AR platform carbine just doesn't make a very good or effective spear(or club for that matter).

I've never seen one of those new M9 bayonets mounted (thanks!). Which reminds me - some of our politicians have already made bayonet lugs illegal in some States. Talk about dumb; as many folks have mentioned, we don't exactly see a lot of mounted bayonets used in crimes (approximately zero). "Let's outlaw attaching chopsticks to baseball caps, because the thought scares me, and it could be used to kill someone!"

And for some folks, all of that nonsense might just be a good enough reason to have a bayonet, and the ability to mount it on something!
