Arm up for delivery?

I have some rather large merchandise for the house being delivered in a few days, and was wondering if I should arm up, or if my usual SR9 would be sufficient preparedness if it goes sideways. Never can tell about these delivery monkeys. :wink: :lol: What say y'all? :mrgreen:

I wouldn't take my eyes off them, but you already knew that. About 25 years ago I'd just got finished sodding a customer's yard. The furniture guys show up and start delivering. I'm talking to the husband and the wife comes out. I thought: Shouldn't one of you be in there with them? Delivery guys leave. Yup, all her jewelry is gone.

Gunny just Marine up when they get there, if they look and act like chit heads, and tell them if they screw up or look crossed eyed at anything you'll just kill them both. You already have questions in your mind as to who the company is sending so why not be up front. My last home delivery of 6 large items went so well and professionally handled I tipped them both twenty each. I hope yours goes exceeding well also.

Can't say I've had any issues with delivery guys. I probably wouldn't leave them alone in my bedroom but that's just me.

Then tip each one $5 "lunch money" for quick, competent jobs.

It's your house, so outside carry! Recently had a new bed delivered and better believe the P90DC was on me in plain sight. While one was setting up the bed, the other was carrying out the packaging with wife and her Detective Special following him. They really seemed like nice people with their constant "Yes Sir No Ma'am..........." :mrgreen:

Take a picture of every person who comes onto your property! I have for years. Thinking like a criminal, I'd get pretty hinky about a future vic having a clear digital pic of my face! I started this right after a friend had his home burgled in daylight 3 days after getting his carpet-cleaning estimate. He lost lots and his daughters lost everything they held dear, even photo albums! Thieves today are dangerous and they rarely stop at one visit.

All any thief wants is to get a look inside your home. The rest comes later.

Oh yeah, rescue a good dog. If you don't have a dog, you're always on your own.

One of my childhood chums, who still lives here in the area, advertised some guns for sale on Craig's list.
He got a call on one of the guns and arranged for the wannabe buyer to come to his home to complete the sale.
The guy shows up with a couple of his buddies and beat the crap out of him and took all the guns and left.

This was just last month and as far as I know, they haven't been caught. If he had had a pistol in his pocket, the story would have ended differently.


This is why I make it a point to be armed from shortly after my feet hit the floor in the morning until my feet leave the floor at night. Life in rural Michigan has changed a LOT in the past 60 years. 8)

well, since you asked...

We have delivery people here pretty regularly...yard stuff, projects, appliances, etc.. Even had a moving crew here back when we bought the house...tipped them all $20 each..

Never occurred to me even once that I was supposed to be afraid of them.

Never heard it was illegal to ask any question except maybe certain subjects during a job interview. Just because someone asks you a question does not obligate you to answer.

I would have asked them if they were here to deliver my furniture or talk politics. If they didn't deliver it, I'd call the store, and then the local news if needed.

I've never had anyone, delivery or otherwise, ask that question of me. Sounds pretty weird to me. Kinda like asking if you still beat your wife. :roll:
