It occurred to me a couple of weeks ago that I hadn't added a single firearm to my stable during 2014 . After a quick consultation with my "interested in acquiring" list and a quick check of the "firearm fund", I started my search for the top two figuring I'd add one (either a SR1911 CMD or a Browning Hi-Power). After a little digging, I found a great deal on both ... so after much pondering  I pulled the trigger on both :D

I found the SR1911 CMD NIB at a small local shop and after a little haggling got it slightly below my target price. After a good cleaning a slight adjustment to the rear sight and a trip to the range yesterday ... it turned out to be a great addition to the stable. Felt great and very accurate :)

I found the Hi-Power from a local private party. It is a mid 90s Belgium model, and while it is in very good shape overall and appears to have a low round count, it had received a "very bad" trigger job along the way so it is currently awaiting a new combat hammer, sear, spring kit and a professional trigger job. The picture below is the before. The after picture and targets will have to wait for a few weeks :(

Interesting High Power.
I don't remember one being marketed which had both the small sights and the ambi-safety....Leastways, not for the commercial market.
Perhaps there has been some parts swapping involved?

DGW ... I don't believe any "parts swapping" has occurred here. Based on my research, the serial numbers (matching), and the other markings on the pistol, this is a 1995 standard model (made in Belgium) with the small windage adjustable rear sight, a staked front sight, spur hammer and extended ambi safeties.

I was thinking that the ambi-safety came out at the same time as the early version of the larger fixed sights......"early version" meaning that on those, the front sight was machined integeral to the slide as opposed the newest versions being dovetailed like the rear.

On the other hand, I'm certainly not an expert......so I aint surprized to learn that I'm wrong. .

Nice gun BTW.....and I realy like those grips.

DGW ... I'm not expert either by any stretch of the imagination . I did however learn an awful lot (far more than I anticipated) as I was looking for one to to call my own :). While I was primarily looking to find a nice mid 90s shooter, it would have been nice to find a 1960s T series or a 1970s C series at a decent price (no such luck) :( . I certainly am looking forward to getting the Hi-Power back from the gunsmith (he's been on vacation for 2 weeks :() so that I can give it a proper shake down at the range ;)

On the bright side, I've already put 150 rounds through my Commander (variety of ammo) without a single hiccup. I am very impressed with the fit, finish, feel and accuracy. It is indeed a keeper :D

Yeah on them SR's, they do run good.
I was in on the maiden voyage of a 5" version which my Son in Law bought. We took it right out the box, checked the bore for obstructions and proceeded to run several boxes of various brands of ammo (which included some Russian steel case) through the thing without a single hick-up.
Perty-dern impressive if ya ask me.

Actually I guess I should add I have been happy enough with the first one I have added a couple more CMDs. A Night Watchman in Feb. of this year which was sort of an impulse buy and a couple weeks ago a light weight.

dakota ... a very nice SE1911 family portrait :D. I'm curious which is your favorite and why?
