I have been without a Mini-14 for about 5 years now. The throat in the old one had been abused in some testing years ago. I have a bunch of factory Remington 55 grain soft point and also a bunch of Lake City surplus from the SE Asia era. and I wasn't getting anywhere using it up with a T C Contender carbine, so I picked up a new stainless/black stock #5814 that seems to have a bit heavier barrel in the Ranch configuration. I am in the process of scoping it now but I think I'm going to have to divert a little time to lapping the rings. Anyway I had three older Leupolds that were unemployed (drawing welfare in the safe) to choose from. A vintage 3X, a 3.5-10, and a 3.5-10 AO, both also older. I started to go with the AO, then I remembered a 3-9 matt finished Burris with the cross hair and three dots on another rifle that has never been zeroed in and used. I decided to use that one and put the older AO on that one. The Burris is a FF that says made in the USA. Good choice or should I retrieve the Loopy? I suspect hogs and coyote will be the main menu. Yes, I know that more gun would be better on pigs, but our experience is that the others will finish off their wounded brother and eradication is the goal. BBQ is secondary and only on the tender ones. Jack

You have way to many nice scopes.
And a Burris is neck in neck in my opinion with Leupold, so how can
you can go wrong with any of them?
It's not like you are deciding between a Chinese Bushnell and a Zeiss.
Jeez man, it's a mini, pick one of those Rolexes and wear it.

No on second thought the Burris is garbage and will never maximize the tack driving potential of your mini. I will give you $75 for it.
Quick before I change my mind. :P

Gatorhugger, You are all heart. Everything has a story. I recently found a friend a REALLY good deal on a rifle for his grandson. After he picked it up he came by with a box of stuff that I might find a use for according to him. He had bought the "stuff" from his deceased father-in-law's estate. Friend said he had no use for it, already had what he wanted out of that auction lot. In the box were things like rings, bases, two four groove Springfield barrels-still in the cosmoline, and two scopes. Both were vintage. One was a Lyman All-American, showing a little wear but optically and mechanically perfect. It seemed to me like it called out to be on a 1938 edition of a Model 70 that an old family friend decided to sell in the 50s and has been in our family ever since. That freed up the non AO 3.5-10. There was also an early Weaver 2.5-5 variable that had a third turrent hiding the power selector knob-like new. I thought that one needed to be on an older Marlin, freeing up the 3X. I actually inherited three of the AO models and had just never put that one to work. Bless good friends and family. Jack

PS: The Rolex, uh Burris , looks good on the mini. Hope mine shoots as good as some of my friends newer Minis (real close to an inch.) jt

I am sure it will do quite nicely.
Actually Burris is one of my favorites. I have people at the club show me their Loopies, and I have a Pentax Pioneer 1 built by Burris.
My "Burris" is every bit as good as anything I have seen, and they have scopes that cost $600-$700.
Your Mini is well clothed, and the burris tends to be shorter which looks better anyway. Happy shooting.
