Anyone know the real reason behind the continued shortage...you can't find 327 ammo around here, or in the usual places.....whats up and how come it keeps on going on?

Still have primer shortage here. One store got a few bricks in and one guy came in and bought them all.... Still some hording going on I suspect....
Don't know about ammo as I don't buy factory stuff other than .22.... And it 'seems' to be getting better ... in some places.
Above is as good a reason as any. Our military is also going through lots of ammo.....

For the first time in months I saw a guy buying a case of primers at my LGS. We've had a good supply for a while now, though we are currently out of LP and LR, in all the area stores.
Power and commercial ammo seem to be more available, though I am having a hard time finding some specific powders, and .380 ammo is still pretty spotty. Still haven't seen a box of Hornady Critical Defense ammo in .45 ACP anywhere.
It's better, but not caught up yet. And I'll bet it is very regional still.

The 'paranoia hoarders' are starting to run out of steam (or money) and now the rest of us 'regular' guys are buying some now. Plus it's spring; folks like shooting in the spring and summer!

What's been the hardest factory ammo for you guys to find? For me it's been .32 H&R Magnum and .45 Long Colt. After a couple of months of searching, finally logged on to Midway at a time when they had one brand only of .32 H&R.

I haven''t bought anything other than a few boxes of rimfire ammo since before obama was elected. With a little planning and luck, I have enough ammo to last through his reign.

I just don't know what to tell you guys that don't reload.
I have not run out of powder, primers or bullets. My CAS sellers have had them at a fair price.
I just bought 5000 primers at $150. a little high by last years standards. Bullets run $38 1000 for 38 125 gr. lead.
Don't know about powder still have a lot. FFFG black is $ 13 a pound.

Things are starting to loosen up around here but now that the smoke has cleared...the prices are higher thanks to it. Not insane but a few $$ more per box and it adds up...

If you walked into a gun store and they had six boxes of .327 Magnum ammo, would you buy it?
If you answered yes, you're part of the problem. The shortage is simple supply and demand. Demand is extremely high!
My local Bass Pro had about 30 boxes of .380 Winchester white box on the shelf for $18.99 per 50 rounds. By today's standards, that's not crazy expensive ($29.99 is crazy) and at least they had it.

in mid-missouri, 9mm is "fairly" easy to find but only if you check wally world & other places regularly; wally world and bass pro are hit & miss, .45 colt cowboy loads usually good supply at bass pro only -none at local gun store or wally world, and I haven't seen .380 ACP anwhere in months. .22mag & LR are easy to find anywhere around here. I'm slowly researching & collecting reloading equipment before I run out of money shootin' factory loads.

Hey Jim, that's a heckuva deal! What powder and primers do you recommend for the .32s?
I reloaded years ago (very limited, just a couple of calibers) but got rid of the equipment and most of the guns about 20 years ago after just losing interest and stopping hunting. I just jumped back in the gun "accumulation" business two years ago and am trying to rebuild the collection and will probably get back into reloading as well. Have acquired 9 Rugers in the past two years, so I'm working my way back slowly.
Remember the grips we talked about a few weeks ago for the .32 single six that you volunteered to help with? I got rosewood Hogues in XR3-Red off the Ruger site a couple of weeks ago--they should fit fine except for the overhang but they don't work on either the .32 or on the regular XR3-Red. I'll bring them with me to Fredericksburg before I send them back and see what you think.
Man, I'm going to owe you a lot of lunches! Sure appreciate your help.

i dont think we had much .32 2 yrs ago when ammo was plentifull. if any.

I use both 231 and 700X 3grs. of 231 and 2.8 of 700x with a 115/120 lead bullet. Makes for a nice low recoil round. I have also used the same with a 76gr. bullet. Along with 15 of FFFG Goex and the 115 bullet
How much brass do you already have? Since you are going to be at F'burg I will swap out what I already have loaded. I would have to look at my manual to see what a Mag is loaded with if you wanted more bang.
I don't know what to tell ya about the grips. They don't sound like XR-3 REDs to me. if they were they should fit except for the overhang.

Jim, love those lightning grip frames! What are they on? I've got probably less than 200 rounds of brass--just starting saving it recently. I'll check Starline to see what's available.
