Always the wrong chambering

Why is it when I find a nice #1 at a decent price it's always in the wrong chambering? :? Saw a few yesterday and all were the wrong chambering. First one was tagged at $700 and was in 416 Rigby. The second was tagged at $750 and in .416 Remington. I love the #1H's profiles but those heavey hitters wouldn't be pleasant to little me.

If you want a 1H, you missed a deal on that Rigby.

I haven't shot a 375H&H (ain't that the smallest 1H) but a 300WMag hurts more than the 416Rgby.

One word here: Handload! The Rigby sends a 400 grainer out at 2370, nearly 5000 ft-lb energy to do the "equal and opposite reaction" thing. And, IIRC, something over $200 a box, so it bites front and rear. Say a 300-350 gr cast bullet at 1600-2000 fps, you are down to light bullet 45-70 levels, and it will still handle anything in NA, surely anything in Maine. And the cool factor would be priceless! I think $650-700 would be a good deal for a nice 1H in virtual 45-70.

It's all range guns now. The current #1's here will suffice for anything I'll ever hunt and then some (.22-250 to .405 Win and a few in between) Just really like that BIG bbl profile and non-common chamberings.

I have the 416 Remington, the 375 H&H, 30-06, They are not bad as far as the 'Kick" they all do more push, instead of the 'Smack kick' if I can use that term. The 416 Rigby was not fun to me so I sold it. I shoot medium killing rounds that will do the job just a few hundred feet a second slower. And ready for the second shot if needed instead of going to find my glasses...J/S in IMHO

I think both would be cool, can't say I'd shoot them much, but they would be fun to own.

I've got a .416 Rigby, and a .375 H&H in 1H. Both are very pleasant to shoot with Trailboss loads with either a cast or jacketed bullet. I have a Boddington "Elephant" on the way in .500-450 and it will be treated to the same reduced loads. The Rigby is not pleasant to shoot with full house loads, but I didn't buy it to hunt with.
