9mm compact ?

Looking into purchasing compact or sub compact 9mm... went to the LGS and they had a LC9 at 359.99 and a SR9c at 400.00 I'm not really looking for a pocket gun..so at 40.00 I can have alot more gun !!!
Which should I purchase...

I shot them both and I like the LC9 more... I didnt like th egrips on the sr and it was a liitle to big for my hand.....

No experience with either... but there are many out there to fit your needs and intentions (whatever they might be). In addition to my Ruger P series 9's (smallest being the P93) I have a 9mm Kel Tec PF9 and a 9mm Taurus 905 Snubby Revolver. However, the gun I carry most often, in my rear pocket opposite my wallet, is a P3AT in a wallet holster. It's outta sight, within easy reach and comfortable (gives balance to the wallet and looks like it might be a wallet). I have carried others in addition to that, but it depends on the season, clothing and other circumstances, etc..... the pocket gun just fits all occasions, if just for nothing more than a BU.

Around here thy are going for $335.00 + tax.
I got mine at a gun show for $335 out the door.

Go shoot them both. Find either a friend(s) that will take you to the range with theirs, or rent. I was lucky enough to have a friend with a range membership that included free gun rentals. So I tried out all the likely suspects before I purchased my SR9c.

I hated the trigger pull and the recoil on the LC9. Having said that, everyone is different. Lots of people love theirs. That is why you should try them out.

For me the SR9c is a good compromise between a small and light enough weapon to fairly easily conceal and carry. It is also relatively fun to shoot at the range. I feel it is important to enjoy shooting a CC weapon enough so that you will actually go and shoot it enough to be proficient with it.

The LC9 would have been a chore for me to practice with. Again it depends on the individual and their likes and dislikes.

FWIW, for me the feel of the weapon in the hand, and the trigger pull were the selling points for me on the SR9c. I also tried out a Springfield, Glock and Beretta. The SR9c was the winner hands down.

Since you're not looking for a pocket gun, I would suggest the SR9c. I bought the KSR9c in 8/11 and I love it.

I have, and enjoy shooting, a LC9 along with an SR9. The SR9 is the same feel in the hand as the SR9c with the extended magazine.

The LC9 is not as small as many or the other "pocket guns" and I often carry mine IWB or in one of the leg pockets in cargo pants. It doesn't fit well in my back pocket as a wallet would. I feel comfortable with it because I have spent enough time with it at the range. The trigger doesn't bother me at all because I have dry fired it hundreds of times, and do so every few days while reading the forums or watching TV. Even though many complain about the long trigger pull, if you are accustomed to it, the length may very well not be an issue.

I would imagine my Taurus PT111 is similar in size to the SR9c, and I carry it whenever I am dressed so it is easily hidden.

They are all great weapons and I am sure you won't be disappointed with either. I certainly am not.

Actually I believe you answered your own question when you said you didn't want a pocket gun. While I haven't shot either of these I would expect the larger gun to be easier to shoot well. Is there any way you can shoot either or both of these models before purchasing?

I would Ditto all of the above. I have an SR9c and love it. Great feel.....great trigger....11 rds in gun and 17 to spare. It's a great little package.

The trigger on the LC9 is a no-go for me, but I'm a DAO hater. If my life is on the line, the last thing i want to do is have to press thru a long, heavy trigger and hope to keep the sights on target the whole time.

I have the Galloway trigger kit in my LC9 and love it, made a word of difference on the trigger pull... I have taken it into my LGS and all the guys droll over the new pull..at the range works great my groups are a lot tighter with the new pull.. best 60.00 spent..

The SR9C is a great all around gun. It's a better range gun. Versatile with short and extended mags. The LC9 is easier to conceal carry and has a completely different trigger pull than the SR9C. They are both extremely dependable. I've got SR9 and LC9 and like them both. But, I prefer to shoot SR9.

I considered the LC9 but when compared to the SR9c it didn't add up for my use. If you don't need a pocket gun the SR9C is the best choice.

It is striker fired rather than hammer fired.

The SR9c is a great pistol. Small and easy to carry plus just a fine shooter. It is more difficult to carry in the pocket but I have realized recently that I have a couple pairs of cargo shorts that I can easily put my SR9c in the pocket.

I don't have an LC9 but I have dry fired it and its much like my LCP which I don't like at all. I have carried the LCP in a wallet holster but I just don't shoot the LCP much because of the long and stiff trigger. I carry my SR9c all the time and its very comfortable and easy to conceal with winter clothes. It has a great trigger and feels great in hand. I don't know what I'm going to carry this summer unless I can figure how to conceal the SR9c with light clothes.

Get the SR9c you will love it.

With all due respect I would like to add the Walther PPS to your list of must check out small 9mm pistols. Easy to conceal w/ 6 7 & 8 round magazines available it is very versatile.

The Walther is also a good choice to look at. While your checking out new guns take a look at S&W M&P9 SHIELD. Check out the M&P9 Shield. It gets officially announced on 4/12, so details are a little scetchy till then, but it appears from the photo to be a single stack 9mm with, what I'm guessing, is a 3" barrel and most likely a 6+1 or 7+1 capacity. I'm also guessing the width will come in at around .8" to .9" wide. Looks just like a mini M&P9c with a BodyGuard 380 safety. I'm fairly excited for this one.

I recently picked up the SR9c as my intended edc. I was down to that and the Springfield xdm9. The sr9c won out and I'm looking forward to carrying this after I take my ccw class next month.

I was a little concerned all my time on my Kimber would bias me against the sr's trigger. So I took them both to the range and found it it wasn't the big deal some would make it out to be. Love them both for what they are.

I have the Springfield XD(m) 3.8 and it is a fine pistol but under summer clothing it prints a bit more that I like. I have made a deal on a Ruger SR9c (3313) and will be shooting it for the first time later today. I'll get back to you with first impressions soon.

Update: Took it to the range and fired 100 ball and 100 hollow point with no malfunctions. However, the feed ramp needs a good polishing. A little top heavy but then what polymer gun isn't? I really like the rear elevation adjustment on the Ruger that is lacking on the Springfield. I also like the safety better than the one on the Springfield XD(m) but if I hadn't learned with a 1911, it probably wouldn't matter. The Ruger is much more easily concealed.
