5 SHOT, 480 ALASKAN. VALUE?

If you've lurked around here (or done some decent searches) you know there are thought to be only 25 or so of these guns that left the factory in normal channels.
Think of any Smith & Wesson, Colt, etc. model handgun of which under 50 legitimate copies were made & sold...
Soooo... Is the gun for sale or do you THINK possibly it will go UP in value as the years go by (presuming of course it stays in unfired, factory-original Mint Condition) ??? Hmmm? Sell it today and you'll have a perfectly good reason to kick yourself in the azz for the next twenty years!
I don't own any museum pieces. My guns get used. But if I stumbled into a 5-shot 480Ruger Alaskan in ANIB condition, I' believe I'd letter it and handle not very much.

I know what you mean. I stumbled onto it, almost by mistake, as I was entering the local gun show today. The second table I walked by, I stopped to look. when I saw the Alaskan, I stopped to look at the label on the end of the box. When I saw it was a 480, I automatically asked to pick it up. when I opened the cylinder, I almost choked to see only 5 holes in it. I assumed that all of them had long ago been snapped up. There was an old couple running the table. I feel like the man who found a famous painting in a garage sale. I'm going to let the post run on the forum, and see how many offers I get. :D

25 left the factory???? I had a shot at one for $650 when they were first announced (as in my dealer had it in his possession and it was a 5-shot). If I only knew they'd become that rare.

Yeah, I believe I would keep that one too.
There were only 53 Shootists Bisleys made and I believe one of the last ones sold went for over 3 grand.....

Well, I've decided that you are all correct. I'm going to keep it, just to be able to take it out, and fondle it occassionally. I'm also going to get it "lettered" by Ruger.

I need that to go along with my 454 alaskan. Only problem is I would shoot it and it would lose value. I don't have safe queens gun's were made to enjoy not look at. my 454 is a sweet shooting little gun. So is my 500 S&W 4". I even have a few of the 500's loaded up with a 700 gr cast bullet that shoots great. I will probably never see alaska but I have a lot of fun plinking with the guns made for there. Oh yes they kill a turtle 30% deader than a smaller pistol.
