427 Comet

Yeah the 427 Comets were few compared to the 66-67 427 Fairlanes.
In 1967 the 427 setup was on the order form and anyone could put in a order for one.

Not a rare Comet but I get my jollies with my little 427 Mustang LX

Dave, I didn't know you were into Fairlanes :!: I had a '66 Fairlane GTA with a 428 in it in Colorado. Sold it for $5500. Wish I had it now :!:

Yes Randy, love me some Fairlanes! Bought a used '66 GT in 1969 for $2600. Kept it for 3 years until I got married. In 1978 bought a '66 GTA for $350. It was a project car I never finished. Sold it in '91 for $3K. Bought another finished GT in '93. I wrecked that one. These days I have owned a few Mustangs and currently have a '94 Mustang Cobra. I would swap it in a minute for a '64 or '66 small block Fairlane Sport Coupe. 8)

I've only got one 427 sideoiler, not original to my car and not a barn-find. More of an owner-installed engine/car combination that should have been offered by Ford!

  Mine was orange and a perfect white interior. 428CJ. Wish I had some pics of it before I wrapped it around a huge tree. It was dime-beer night...

Had we known then what we know now.

Nice cars :!: They all look like FUN. Here is pic of my current Hot Rod. Its a 5.0/5speed in Bright Calypso Green ---- only 230 with these paint/trim codes.

Very Nice!!! 8) :D My Mustang Cobra........ Wish it were a big block!! :D

With some time and $$$ you can swap one in there! The idea of the "big" Windsor based engines is 550-600 HP without the weight of an FE or 385 series big block. If you like power without a turbo or blower. Just playing with my setup at the track got me in the 10's at 132 with only a 3.50 rear gear.
Now just my funtime cruiser!

Well, a 347 stroker would work I guess! I have done cold air intake, Basani Headers, Bjorla cat-back exhaust, shorty shifter, 3.55 gears and a lowering kit. Timing tweaked a little, but could use more of a kick in the pants. Mine is mainly a cruiser too. With just 53K miles it is all original and never sees the rain. Just a fun ride! :D

Randy, nice fox body! I have owned a '90 hatchback LX and 2 GT's, '91 and '92. Really wanted a '93 Cobra with the 351 but they are hard to find.....

How about a 427 Fairlane wagon!
We were up at the FE Reunion couple years back. They have it at Beaver Springs Dragway in Pa. always the weekend of April 27 (427) depending on how the date falls on a weekend.
Always great FE fun there! https://youtu.be/7PuXg-lruX4

My brother with his '67 427 side oiler GT-500 he bought for $4,700 after graduating college in 1976.

His and her's cars I now own. Mine on the right, a factory four speed 4V Clevelang car that will receive a 470 hp 427 Windsor stroker and Tremec 5 speed next year.

You guys keep showing up in all those Fords & Mercs, & we're gonna have to go to Autozone & get another pallet of oil dry.

But seriously, where did the, gulp, GT500 wind up? A million dollar story or some sad hindsight?

Not a Comet or a Mustang but it is Powered by Ford. 513 cubic inches of big block Ford goodness. :D
