What is your fovorite powder for 41 mag? How about best powder & bullet combination for accuracy?

W296 and 'Lil Gun are the two I use. I load the Cast Performance 265 grain LWFNGC with 'Lil Gun and lighter bullets with 296. I follow the load ranges on Hodgdon's website but usually find that these powders like to be loaded near maximum. If you are looking for a plinking load, you might want to try other powders but these two are good for heavy hunting / bear protection loads.

I like W296 and 2400 for the heavy stuff and HS6 for mid range loads. I use 230gr leadheads and I get good accuracy with all the above powders near max charge.

My everyday load is a 230 gr Keith style cast slug & 8 grs of 231. My heavy load is 17 grs of 2400 & a 250 gr LBT, this last one isn't max but I've taken elk & bear with it with complete penetration. You can go to 18 grs with this bullet with no problems but you don't gain much.

Has anyone loaded with Lee 410dia-210gr Tumble Lube SWC (like the simplicity of tumble lube). If so, what powder and primer worked best?

In the past using Lee dies I have have had great results although I am thinking I'd like to look into Mitek where I can cast both solid and hollow point or just go with Lee again. Trying to weight out the differences and is it worth it or not. Any input?

That's one of my favorite 41 mag bullets. Right now I load that bullet with 6gr of Accurate #2 and CCI standard primers.

Thanks for the info!
Added to the original question is that how fast can you push the TL410-210-SWC non-gas checked Lee bullet, and do you get barrel leading.

In the past I've had great results with Lee traditional die cast bullets. I'm interested in how the tumble lube design cast bullet and push through sizer set-up works vs. a RCBS lube sizer and it's designed cast bullet.

I've only pushed the TL410-210 to 960fps out of my 4 5/8 Blackhawk with no leading at all. I use other bullets for my heavy hitters.

My load was 11.5 grs of IMR Hi Skor 800X with Hornady 210 grn XTP JHP its a light to moderate load good for plinking and light hunting.

What do the heavy hitters consist of?

Heavy loads, I use a 250gr LNGC bullet ahead of a healthy dose of W296. For everyday loads, I favor either a 210gr RCBS KT SWC or a 220gr LFN from an LBT mold ahead of 7.5 to 8gr. of Unique. Both are accurate in all my .41Magnums and a couple wildcats.

The Ranch Dog TLC411-255-RF over 19gr of H110. I haven't run it through the chronograph yet. It's just over an inch at 40 yards.

I bought a bottle of Alliant's new 300MP powder that's supposed to be awesome in 41-44 sized cartridges. Their website didn't have any recommendation for the 41 mag so I sent Alliant an e-mail asking for info on the 41 mag with 210 gr XTP bullets. Ben Amonette the Technical Service Manager for Alliant wrote back and suggested starting at 20 grs with a max of 23.

I like using Berry's plated bullet but he recommended staying with Unique rather than 300MP. I think I will stay with Universal rather than Unique for that bullet.

FWIW,

Dan

After significant research and development in 41 Magnum I found AA9 gave the best balance between accuracy and velocity.
W296/H110 gave overall highest velocities.
