Sorry, but they excite me. 3D printers that is. School started again and the kids came back very excited about the printer. One student in fact must have spent hours working on some designs over the break. His dad is a designer or some kind, an architect I believe. The student showed me his work and it’s pretty impressive really. He must be 12 years old or so. His dad was impressed with a printed model we made just before Christmas.

Anyway, I bought a second printer for my school tonight. It’s a K-8 school. I found out today one of the local high schools doesn’t have a 3d printer. I guess that made me feel a greater need to get one for my school. Lulzbot Mini... designed and made in Colorado. I know made in USA is a priority here. At least for me anyway.

I know y’all talk about schools and what the kids learn these days. I just want to say it’s pretty good these days....The day before school started here, all the teachers had a conference and we spent all day trying to make the school a better place for the students. One thing which should be mentioned that I got from the meeting is that parent involvement needs to be more of a priority.

In otherwords parent involvement is necessary for school success. I know this isn’t a part of the 3D printer program I’m talking about, it it’s important nonetheless.

Parents who don't support the schools/students get the amount out of the schools they put in. Then they complain about how bad the system is. Good for you Kevin

From the parent side. I get frustrated because I feel like I am just one person and what little I think I do changes nothing.

PTO is usually 6 people and two of those are from the school.

Doesn't help my ex wants the kids to go to a "better" school and fills their heads with a magical view of some other school that none of them really know anything about.

I also makes me sad when other kids latch on to me like they have never seen a dad before. I will always do my best for my kids and try to help out where I can for others.

Not trying to pat myself on the back because I feel I fail all the time.

Keep up the good work.

There have been some long term studies and kids who have parents who volunteer in grade school school have done better in high school and college.

And don’t worry Roylt, I feel like I fail often as well. I know I don’t, but sometimes for example all the kids start talking in class and it’s hard to get their attention again. Or it’s clear the lesson just flys over their head.
