I bought this Krag a couple years ago for $300 shipped based on one bad photo and a trusting soul.
It had a full length barrel at that time, only the last eight inches or so of the barrel was completely smooth! :(
So I did what I could with it. Cut it down as short as I legally could and added a NECG front sight, making something that looks sort of like a Krag saddle ring carbine. I hunted with it once, but it's been sitting in the corner for a couple years now. Time to cut my losses and let it go. Unlike when I bought it, there will be full disclosure. ;)
Makes a neat woods carbine.
Hard to come by Redfield sight, the price of these keep going up when you can find them.
The barrel band and the butt plate are chrome plated? Why? I dunno? Parade rifle parts?
The left side of the rifle was heavily sanded for some reason, due to damage I assume.
Thin up front.

How's the bore you ask? Well... you can kind of tell where the rifling used to be. :shock: I wish I were joking.
But for whatever reason the stupid thing still shoots pretty good. Plenty accurate enough for plinking or for putting venison in the freezer. 8)
I fired off the last 8 loaded rounds I had tonight. This was at 100 yards. The vertical stringing is my fault. At 100 yards the front bead is 3/4 as large as the target, so I was pretty inconsistent.
Even in the shape it's in this a really neat little gun, but I just haven't used it enough to keep it around. (Mostly because me and tang sights don't get along in the woods)
I've got close to $400 in it and a good deal of time/work.
I'd love to at least get $300 shipped if I can. We'll see. maybe there's someone else out there like me. ;)
I can also make you a deal on an RCBS die set and some brass if you buy the rifle.
