For some reason, Ruger chose not to allow the 22/45 pistols the choice of pulling the bolt back slightly, after installing a full magazine into the grip frame, and letting it fly forward so that the first round is sent into the chamber. Most will use the thumb button on the bolt stop assembly to allow the bolt stop assembly to slide down and off the bolt, and allow it to fly forward. It was discovered that removing the detent and spring in the bolt stop assembly will then allow the bolt stop assembly to drop down, due to gravity, when the bolt is drawn back slightly. In some cases that modification doesn't always work as intended because the rear tail on the bolt stop assembly is rubbing on either side of the wall in the pocket it resides in,so it won't easily drop down.
This condition has caused a flurry of spring assisted creations that help force the bolt stop assembly down. What only needs to be done is to swipe that side of the bolts stop assembly that's rubbing with a smooth cut file to eliminate the rubbing condition, and the "gravity-modification" will work just fine.
