I'm getting a suppressor & chose the new 22/45 LITE as the handgun platform (a 10/22 with a threaded barrel is also in my future)

I bought the LITE gun Thursday. Unfortunately, upon opening the box and giving it an inspection, it had a 1/2" scratch on top of the receiver. Had it been stainless, I might have lived with the scratch knowing I could rub out a stainless gun.

However, being the scratch was in the anodized aluminum....I had to either live with a rather glaring scratch or call Ruger. I called Ruger.

I told the lady about the scratch and that it was on the gun when the box was opened. With NO prodding or asking....she cheerfully offered to e-mail me my return label (Next Day Air) and told me what to include in the box. I had it carefully packed and shipped on Friday/yesterday afternoon.

I wish I'd have been able to offer at least an abbreviated "Range Report"...but alas, I never fired the gun (just a few dry fires).

I have to hand it to Ruger. That was fantastic customer care! The lady took my word on the scratch. She did so with no hesitation.

It's a sad commentary that I was expecting an argument. Not so with Ruger. Including this purchase, I've only ever purchased five new Rugers (I prefer the older guns as a rule)...I'll certainly continue to recommend Ruger as a company gun owners (or future gun owners) can depend upon to back up what they sell.

Since I'm at least six months out on getting my suppressor...this little hic-up will not be a problem for me. In fact I'll get my trigger parts ordered and be ready to install them when the gun is returned.

I was bent on buying the Mark III Target Satin Stainless when saw this one... Now I can't make up my mind... Please do share your thoughts after testing it on the range sir, I'd greatly appreciate it if you do.

Hi,

I have the 22/45 LITE also. So far I like it a lot. I shot a steel match with it once. Only one jam and I think that is because I did not get the mag all of the way in.

Here is a picture of mine.

Hi,

The LITE is very light. It handles and shoots great.

They sell for around $350 and up.

Friday I shot a 22/45 with the suppressor barrel built in Idaho (can't recall the company name) AND a 10/22 with the same set up. The owner had done trigger upgrade as well. He said including the FFL tax on the can he had "around a grand" in each of them. And no, he wasn't ready to let loose of either.

Impressively amazingly light. Would need to work with either for a while to catch on the the 'hand full of air' sensation. He had to tape on a small weight at the front of the stock to make it have any kind of balance.

I'd be mighty interested in a range follow-up report from anyone with either of these models.

I recently bought a 22/45 Lite from a dealer that is on this blog. See my previous posts about it. I like it a lot and call it my space gun.

My grandson is excited to see the gun when Ruger ships it back.

My trigger upgrade parts shipped from Brownells this morning....when they arrive, I'm going to try to "fix" the gun myself....if I'm having trouble, I have a buddy who is darn good with Rugers!

Bought one a few weeks ago and I love it! Had feeding problems and then I disassembled the mag to find a kinked spring. Called Ruger and they sent me a brand new mag with a return envelope. Put over 800 through it & it trumps the XD9 I bought the sameday in fun.

VonFatman, I'm curious about 2 things:

You didn't inspect the pistol before you brought it home?

Under these circumstances why not take it back to the dealer and get another one? For some reason people will take back everything else they buy but not guns.

Yes, the gun was inspected. It had the scratch when pulled from the box.

This model is not filling the shelves in dealers. I asked if he had another, he did not. I accepted the gun knowing I may have to live with the scratch, but knowing that Ruger is a stand up company and would most likely help with the gun.

They are and they did.

Bob,

I have several Ruger threaded barrel 22s (LITE, 22/45 TBs, 10/22 TB, 10/22 TB w/1-9 after market bbl to shoot Aguilar Sniper SubSonic 60 Grain ammo). I also have a bolt action Savage FV-SR threaded bbl.

The fixed breach Savage with subsonic ammo is the closest to Hollywood quiet you can get and is noticeably quieter than any of the others. CCI subsonic segmented hollow points are pretty impressive on small varmints.

I have a real gun shy dog that will sit right next to me while I shoot the suppressed Savage.

I've had my 22/45 lite for a while now. Bought from this forum even. I like it a lot and have it sighted in quite well. My daughter comes over to shoot it too. We call it the Space Gun.

I have a 22/45 LITE. The idea is to eventually get a can for this one.

I will say, having owned MK II's in the past, the trigger on this 22/45 Lite sucks big time. And the mag safety has to go as well. Otherwise, I love the pistol. Zero jams with your basic 40 grain ammo as well as CCI Stingers.

I'd like to get a red dot or holographic sight on this one, too.

Has there been a redesign on this gun already? The 22/45 Lite at my lgs look like this pic from the Ruger website.

Wouldn't be surprised if they did. Many probably don't like the gold finish. I like the gold though, lends credence to my nickname for it.

Ruger had problems with the gold anodized finish. After scrapping 1000 receivers they changed to black. If you can find a gold one you should snag it. I think these will be good collector guns in the future.
