1986 Mini-14 GB

Just picked this up today from a local shop. Ironically, I saw it yesterday after dropping-off my 1999 Stainless Mini-14 to ship out that I recently sold. But after looking at the stack of lonely Mini-14 mags I still have in the closet and no gun, I went back to the shop today and picked it up. Same price I just sold my stainless standard for ($600).

You don't see older GB models out in the wild much, so I figured I better grab it. Dates to 1986 and is the last year of the 1/10 twist and left side front swivel mount. Unfortunately, it didn't have the wood stock, but overall, the gun seems to be in good shooting condition. Came with one aftermarket 30 rounder. No signs of any LE markings. I already ordered a new recoil spring from Wolff.

Really fantastic weapon, the agency I worked for transitioned to these about that time frame. Previously had Remington 788's with aftermarket receiver sights so the upgrade to Ruger Mini's was quite welcome. Never had any malfunctions with any of them. As far as I know, they are still in service but in all honesty, I have not been back since retiring 22 years ago.

I shot it last Thursday. It ran 100% and was already fairly sighted in. They really are a joy to shoot.

No they certainly are not. I bought a 582-series NIB a few years ago. It came with sights which were installed so far off from plumb that there wasn't enough sight adjustment to get it into the black at 100 Yds....And yeah, it went straight back to the factory for repairs.
