Took a couple of my 10/22's out, and found a good use for the Ruger backing that comes in magazine packages.
My match rifle has a Kidd barrel and complete Kidd trigger group, with a 4x12 Mueller.
My squirrel getter has a Tactical Solutions Pac-Lite barrel and Volquartsen hammer, with a Bushnell 4x circle-x scope. It shoots Federal American Eagle in .5" at 50 yards. A little better than the CCI Stingers that I use for hunting.

Also was shooting my savage 93. It has a Burris 3x9.

AJ, when you buy a factory magazine they come in a plastic packaging that has the red paper as a backing, I guess for contrast. It would be worth a try and call Ruger and see if they might "hook you up" with some of them.

So you just put the color changing dots on there yourself???

Great idea!!!

I am working on making a saw horse with a saw groove in the top to hold Necco wafers for small tagets. I'll post some pics when I get it finished.

AJ,
Yep, those are stick on Shoot N C 1" targets. I also made some copies of these on a sheet of paper. I keep a folder on every gun and put these targets in with the respective gun.

You might consider sawing the groove in a 2x4 and attach it to the saw horse. That way low shots wont tear up your saw horse.

Rumrunner.
those are good groups with the Kidd setup. I have a 10.22 with Kidd barrel, double stage trigger and bolt. It will shoot like yours. Definitely money well spent in my opinion.

My favorite "cheap" bulk targets are paper plates with the Shoot N C centers (2-inchers) stuck right in the middle of the plate. Makes an easy to see target and the price is right - you can buy a big stack of paper plates for not much $$$, and the Shoot N C's 2- inchers are not too expensive either. Much cheaper than the full size Shoot N C targets.

Another relatively inexpensive target is an 8" paper plate with a dot in the center provided by one of those 1' bingo marking bottles. You can make up a whole bunch of these fast by just daubing the bingo marker in the center of the plate. It gives good target color integration, plus the marking dots are made mostly of poster paint which allows for great shot spotting when you hit in the colored dot.

Paint balls are fun to shoot if you have a place where you can shoot them.

Kevin,
I really like the Kidd stuff. Mine is a single stage trigger. Of course the Savage cost about what just the Kidd trigger alone cost, and it is a shooter.

Where do you get those targets??? I have a Boy Scout shooting trip in 2 weeks and we are always looking for some new and challenging ideas.

They're a touch expensive but last forever - version similar to this comes in solid ball, triangle and square:

More options - I like the "spinning varmint".

Put on a hanger or tethered to the ground they'll react to hits with a 22. No need to reset or replace when hit many times. I have a 1918 BAR and the solid ball takes lots of hits before falling apart.
